YHS Foundation Proudly Presents Three Awards to Senior School Recipients

This year, three Senior School students were presented three Foundation awards that are typically presented at our Founders’ Day assembly. As our Founders’ Day assembly was held virtually this year, YHS Foundation Chair, Stevie Mitchell ‘61, joined our Senior School assembly live on November 24th to announce this year’s recipients.

Head Girl, Lauren, Grade 12, received the Katherine Manders Award. In memory of Katie Manders ’96, this award is for the encouragement and recognition of a student who has overcome her own personal challenges and has displayed determination, courage, and persistence in working towards her goals while embracing the school’s values of Integrity, Empathy, Responsibility, Respect, and Courage.

Isabel, Grade 12, received the Caroline Anne Sexsmith Trausch Award. In memory of Caroline (Sexsmith) Trausch ’84, it is for the recognition of a student who has demonstrated leadership, determination, courage, Yorkie spirit and participation throughout her years in the Senior School in pursuit of her goals, while embracing the school’s values of Integrity, Empathy, Responsibility, Respect, and Courage.

Jessica, Grade 9, recipient of the Sherry Robson Taylor Alumnae Spirit Award.

Jessica, Grade 9, received the Sherry Robson Taylor Alumnae Spirit Award. This award was created as a special tribute to Sherry Robson Taylor ‘73 in 1996, and is presented every year to recognize a student from Grade 8-10, who emulates Sherry’s enthusiasm, energy and love of York House and who participates in a variety of activities within the school. This peer-voted award is a testament to the recipient’s enthusiasm and school spirit.
