Over the Break…

Welcome Back!

Wow, what a busy break! It seemed like everyone was away on a school trip.

There was an Art/History trip in Europe (France, Belgium and England), the Gr. 8’s were in Paris, the Model UN was in New York (just before the break), and our band was in Hawaii.

Band Brings Home Silver

The 56 piece concert band (Gr. 9-12 students) performed in an international competition with schools from the US and Australia. YHS, the only Canadian competitor, brought home a Silver medal.

In Sports…

Tigers Finish 6th
Congrats to our Sr. Tigers on a great run at the AA BC’s in Kamloops and a great season.

They played Duchess Park for 5th place. It was a great game throughout but we ended up on the short end of a 52-50 score. The Sr. Tigers finished 6th…a great result for this team.

They played four games and were in a position to win every single one in the final minutes.

The consistent effort these girls showed was remarkable. With the loss of so many talented players last season, many had lower expectations of this team … but clearly, no one told them. This team never stop working incredibly hard and carried on the YHS basketball tradition of excellence.

Other coaches routinely commented on YHS being first class and a team no one wanted to have to play because of our defense and how hard our girls work all the time.

One coach texted me to say that what this group did over the four games is one of the best YHS performances and coaching performances they had seen: “The story of the tournament”.

Congrats to the players and to coaches Mr. Brown and Brandon Chan.

Also … Congrats to Seniors:
Shayna S. named to the tournament all-star team
Jenna Q.
Danielle T.
Katie L.
