On Thursday, February 16th, York House hosted its 2nd Globe Fair in the Gail Ruddy Foyer. Parents, students and staff were invited to stop by and meet with a variety of organizations to learn more about opportunities to volunteer, study, work and travel abroad.

Globe Fair 2012Some of the organizations that came out were: Stephen Lewis Foundation, Amnesty International, Travel Cuts, Me to We, VSO-CUSO, Right to Play, Care Canada, Rotary Foundation, the Aga Khan Foundation, SEVA and more. Reps were on hand to answer questions and to provide information on a particular program, country, or global issue.

The Globe Fair is a great way to introduce a variety of organizations to our junior and senior students. One of the organizations in attendance was Stratosphere. They specialize in international community education programs. This summer some of our senior girls will be participating in one of their customized programs in Uganda. They will participate in an outreach to a local school and talk to Ugandan girls about challenges girls face, such as taboos, education, and career goals.
