Terry Fox Run 2021

We didn’t let COVID stop us from participating in our annual Terry Fox Run. This year, with the leadership of our Grade 7 Student Council, our Senior School Community Service Captains, and our PHE teachers, we ran during class and over lunch hours on September 22 and 23 to show our support for this important cause and the loved ones who have been impacted by cancer.

The Junior School had a goal for each class to “Try Like Terry” and run a marathon. It took all 20 students completing 13 laps around the Lindsay Field to run a full marathon. Amazingly, every single Junior School class, from Grade 1 to Grade 7, completed a marathon or more! One class of Grade 4s ran a combined 52 km. Some of our Senior students took a different approach to the run this year. Mr. Bester took his PHE 10 class Nordic pole walking in the neighbourhood. The route included Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Students across the school also brought in funds to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. Thank you all for supporting a very important cause: Terry Fox’s dream of a world without cancer.

That’s a Wrap on 2020-21!

And that’s another school year in the books! In spite of a global pandemic and having to navigate complex health and safety protocols, we explored teaching and learning in new ways. Whether it was Outdoor Ed day trips, Maker Faires, art exhibits, pinball or California Kickball tournaments, we even found many moments of pure joy! We also found clever ways to share these experiences with you whether it was virtual tours of Junior School Classrooms for teacher conferences, livestreamed assemblies, concerts, and our full-scale theatre production.

Thank you for your resilience, trust, and positive community spirit. It has been another great year in spite of the challenges we faced together.

Have a wonderful summer, everyone! We look forward to seeing you in September. Watch the “Behind the Scenes” video:
