Welcome Back to School

We were so excited to welcome our students and staff to the 2020-21 school year! It has been wonderful to hear the sound of babbling and laughter in the halls, the jokes between students and faculty, and watch how excited the Yorkies themselves are to return to school.

Back to School certainly looked a little different this year as we eased our way in with staggered starts over three days (September 9-11). The first groups of students we welcomed were the Grade 8s for their orientation. They had a chance to meet their teachers, reconnect with old friends, and meet the newest members of the Class of 2025. On Monday, September 14, our 2020-21 Student Executive greeted students with signs for our first official day of school. The only thing missing was the usual “high-fives”!

Reflecting back on these last few weeks, we can say without a doubt that this has been a joyful month, with happy teachers and students interacting together both in the classroom and outdoors. A sense of vibrancy has returned to the school as everyone on the campus is settling into their teaching and learning routines.

This Thanksgiving weekend we can all be thankful for the strong, supportive, and connected community that is York House.

2019-20: Behind the Scenes

And that’s a wrap on the 2019-20 school year, and what a year it has been! Despite the challenges, it was wonderful to see our community come together. From remote learning on Google Meet, virtual assemblies and singalongs, participating in YHS Challenges, prepared meals made to order for families and staff courtesy of Chef Neil, Outdoor Ed camp at home, returning to partial in-class instruction, to physically distanced graduation ceremonies and parades—we’ve learned so much, and have grown and changed in so many ways. Let’s see what 2020-21 brings! Thank you for your resilience, trust, and positive community spirit. It has been another great year in spite of the challenges. We look forward to connecting with you again in September!
