Little School Update

Welcome back to school! I’m always amazed by how much bigger and older the girls seem after the break. They come back full of vim and vigor ready to tackle the last term.

It’s a busy term, especially in the garden. This week the girls went out in the rain to plant kale, onions, flowers, and herbs. Our garlic has poked through the soil and the peach tree is in bloom. Just before spring break, the Grade 7 girls came down to spread new bark mulch in the garden. They managed to move all of the bark mulch in one afternoon. The garden is now dry and much less muddy!

Drop, Cover and Hold On

Today, YHS joined millions of people worldwide for the Great ShakeOut.

October 17th is officially ShakeOut BC Day. At 10:17am (or in our case 10:25 due to recess) we practiced “drop, cover and hold on”.

This is one of 9 emergency drills that we have every year. As part of our emergency preparedness, every year we have six fire drills, one lockdown drill and two earthquake drills.
