Junior Tigers Update: October 18, 2018

CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
The past few weeks have been very busy for our Cross-Country Team. Since our last update, they have continued to practice three times a week and they have competed in two more races.

On October 4th, our team made its way over to West Point Grey Academy for the WPGA Campus Trail race. The team works very hard to establish a strong culture of working together and doing our best as a team. Therefore it comes as no surprise to see the number of students we have participating and how hard they are all working. At the WPGA Campus Trail Race we had many top 20 finishes, highlighted by the following top 10 finishes:

  • Grade 3 – Charlotte (1), Kyla (6), Coco (10)
  • Grade 4 – Jamie (1), Sydney (8), Ryan (10)
  • Grade 5 – Kaya (3), Isabelle (9), Zoya (10)
  • Grade 6 – Ruby (7)
  • Grade 7 – Sophia (1), Madeleine (3)

On Saturday, October 13th, our young Tigers travelled to North Vancouver to compete in the Frank Reynolds Memorial Race hosted by the Norwesters Track & Field Club. Typically, club-hosted races provide very strong competition and this meet was no exception. Of course, our Tigers rose to the occasion and ran with all of their might. Again, we had many top 20 finishes, highlighted by the following top 10 finishes:

  • Grade 4 – Lily (6)
  • Grade 5 – Kaya (4), Kaida. (6), Isabelle (8)
  • Grade 6 – Ruby (2), Livie (10)
  • Grade 7 – Sophia (2), Madeleine (6)

Our team results were amazing! Coach Ling and our team of coaches are super proud of how much effort the girls continue to give to each other and the team. The Tigers are in great shape heading towards the ISEA Championships on October 25th at Jericho Beach. The Tigers are gunning for our first ISEA title in several years. Best of luck to everyone!

GRADE 5 VOLLEYBALL
The Grade 5 Volleyball has continued to play games over the past several weeks and will be wrapping up their season with the ISEA Playday on October 24th at Mulgrave School. Keep up the great work team!

GRADE 6 VOLLEYBALL
Our Grade 6 Volleyball team has also continued playing games with a match at Collingwood on October 11, and another match at Stratford Hall on October 23rd. The team will finish their season at the ISEA Playday on November 2 at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

GRADE 7 VOLLEYBALL
Our Grade 7B team continues to work through its schedule by battling very hard in each match they play. At this point, they have come up a little short, but they have enjoyed some extremely close, competitive matches. All the while the team continues to improve and they are looking to finish their season on a high note at the ISEA Tournament on November 2nd.

The Grade 7A team finished their regular season as the only undefeated team in their league. The team has high hopes for their ISEA Tournament on November 2nd at Crofton House, and will have to work very hard if they want to bring home the gold! Best of luck girls!
