Volunteer Fest

On November 19, Volunteer Fest was held over the lunch hour.

Volunteer Fest was started due to high levels of student interest to volunteer in our YHS community and beyond. Students facilitated tables and showcased posters and literature raising awareness about issues, organizations, and volunteer opportunities for students that students can get involved in. This is a great opportunity to discover new volunteer opportunities and get involved in the community!

YHS Commemorates Remembrance Day

On November 10, we honoured Remembrance Day as a whole school, through the collective viewing of a pre-recorded Remembrance Day assembly. The video featured performances by the Senior Choir, Senior Band, Grade 9 Band, Senior Drama class, the Grade 3s and 5s, and readings from Grade 10 students, Maggie (our Poet Laureate), and Ava.

After the ‘virtual’ assembly, all students, faculty, and staff gathered on the field to sing “O Canada” and honour our fallen soldiers with a moment of silence and the playing of the “Last Post” and “The Rouse” by Grade 11 students Ellie and Alycia.

Thank everyone involved in putting together this outstanding Remembrance Day assembly.
