Support the “STEAM Dream” for Senior School!

It’s full STEAM ahead for the Senior School as momentum is building towards making a STEAM lab a reality. Through early and generous support of several families and friends of YHS more than $600,000 of our $1.5 million goal has already been raised. Building on the success of STEAM in the Junior School, this new space will create a hub where students can explore a problem, engage in research, generate ideas, take risks, prototype, and construct solutions that draw on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). This program provides students with opportunities to develop knowledge, design-thinking skills, and entrepreneurial mindsets they need to thrive in a world beyond YHS.

The 1300 square-foot lab will be located outside the entrance of the Senior School with construction set to begin in the spring of 2020 and completed later that fall. This important initiative will have a remarkable and long-lasting impact on our Yorkies for years to come. Annual Fund Wraps-Up for 2016-17

On June 15, we had our 2016/17 Annual Fund wrap up celebration. Originally scheduled to be held in the Wenying Garden, the weather had other plans for us and we ended up celebrating in the Qin Boardroom here at YHS.

The night kicked off with appies and prosecco and a chance for all of our volunteers to catch up after such a busy term. Jennifer Galli welcomed guests and, with the help of some of our Board Members, Annual Fund volunteers and staff announced our Annual Fund total this year of $1,050,424 — $50,000 over our first $1,000,000 goal!

Head of School, Chantal Gionet, spoke about the important role that Annual Fund plays in the experiences of the girls and thanked all of our volunteers for putting in such a great effort this year.

After an evening of wine, food, and celebration, guests received a potted succulent to celebrate their hard work in “helping our school grow”.
