It’s full STEAM ahead for the Senior School as momentum is building towards making a STEAM lab a reality. Through early and generous support of several families and friends of YHS more than $600,000 of our $1.5 million goal has already been raised. Building on the success of STEAM in the Junior School, this new space will create a hub where students can explore a problem, engage in research, generate ideas, take risks, prototype, and construct solutions that draw on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). This program provides students with opportunities to develop knowledge, design-thinking skills, and entrepreneurial mindsets they need to thrive in a world beyond YHS.
The 1300 square-foot lab will be located outside the entrance of the Senior School with construction set to begin in the spring of 2020 and completed later that fall. This important initiative will have a remarkable and long-lasting impact on our Yorkies for years to come.
