Grandparents’ Day 2022

When spring term rolls around it is time to celebrate one of York House School’s most treasured and long-standing tradition, Grandparents’ & Grandpals’ Day. Regrettably, we are unable to host this event in person this year, but we have high hopes to gather together with treats, coffee and tea to celebrate this wonderful tradition at YHS in person next year.

We eagerly wait for the return of this in-person gathering with our Grandparents & Grandpals. In the meantime, we have a special message from our Head of School, Mme Julie Rousseau, and our students expressing their appreciation and gratitude for their Grandparents & Grandpals.

We invite you to share this video with your daughter’s grandparents, and we hope to see everyone next year!

YHS Welcomes Grandparents and Grandpals

Grandparents and grandpals came to visit their Yorkies on our annual Grandparents’ Day.

The day started with a reception and refreshments in the Gail Ruddy Foyer, followed by a presentation in the theatre. Junior Head Girl Risa welcomed grandparents and shared what spending time with their grandparents means to the girls. Head of School, Chantal Gionet also welcomed grandparents and acknowledged the many who made a special trip, some from across the country, to be with us for this special day. Senior School Head Girl Maggie spoke on how much Grandparents’ Day has meant to her in her time at YHS. Grandparents were then treated to special performances from our String Ensemble, our Junior School Choirs (Gr. 3-6 and Gr. 3-4), and our vocal ensembles, Chorista, and Ragazza.

The rest of the day was spent touring the school and visiting classrooms. In the Junior School, the girls had a chance to show their grandparents special projects they have been working on. Shuttle buses also took grandparents to the Little School.

This special day is a wonderful way to honour Yorkie grandparents. Grandparents’ Day is one of our most cherished York House traditions and is held every spring.
