Every year on the last Thursday of September, York House celebrates Founders’ Day in recognition of the seven founding members of the school.
One of the long-standing traditions of Founders’ Day is the Golden Alumnae Luncheon. Alumnae celebrating 50 years and above are invited annually to come back for a tour of the school, the luncheon and the assembly.
This year, alumnae also participated in the grand opening of the YHS Alumnae Museum & Archives, where they got a look at photos, uniforms and artifacts from their years at York House.
The highlight at this year’s luncheon was Ragazza, York House’s vocal jazz ensemble, as well as performances by soloists Olivia and Katie. The students selected songs from the 1950’s and 1960’s in honour of the classes celebrating their reunions.
Olivia entertained our Golden Alumnae with the 1954 classic “Mr. Sandman”:
