As we look back on the past school year from the YHS Parents’ Association’s perspective there’s a lot to be thankful for. Most important is our incredible community of parents who’ve worked so hard to make things as “normal” as possible for our kids despite all the challenges we’ve faced.
We’re also super thankful for the return to in-person events! Not only did we host sold-out Father-Daughter Dinner Dances but the Holiday Market returned this year and it was also our first-ever Little School Holiday Market. We also took our PA Raffle online and got a great response, selling out almost immediately. We had to cancel our Tiger Party and instead ran a fun online silent auction and gift basket sale to support the Tiger Scholarship. We also hosted our Staff Appreciation lunch in May which featured curated lunch boxes, an ice cream truck, and a lot of thank you cards. This year we also launched our own Instagram account; you can now follow us @yorkhousepa.
We were thrilled to recently host an in-person PA Social in place of our last monthly meeting on June 1st – seeing everyone in real life again was incredible, and it was great to relax and have a chance to catch up.
Your fantastic Class Parents are wrapping up the year having shown a lot of creativity and ingenuity in coming up with fun virtual and in-person events. They pulled together everything from bowling to baking to outdoor activities to keep our community connected and they’re already planning ahead for next year, as are we! Plans are in full swing for events next year, including the Rose Ball, and we hope all our events will be in person for 2022-23. Please check our Volunteer Opportunities page on myYHS for more details and to sign up as a volunteer.
We are sad to be saying goodbye to Madame Julie Rousseau but we are looking forward to working with Deryn Lavell, the new Head of York House School.
We hope you have a wonderful summer and a well-deserved break, and we look forward to seeing you all at the Welcome Back Bar-b-que on September 9th.
