Career Day at YHS

Blogger, nutritionist, chef and author Sarah Britton addresses students on Career Day.

Our Alumnae Office and Counselling Department joined together to put on a Career Day for our Senior students during PHP.

The keynote speaker was blogger, nutritionist, chef and author Sarah Britton. Ms. Britton was in town on a tour to promote her book “My New Roots”, which is also the name of her award winning healthy food blog. Sarah spoke about her journey from design school graduate, organic farmer, teacher, photographer, to holistic nutritionist and chef, reminding students that one’s career path isn’t always straightforward — and that is okay. “Doing what you love is scary. What’s important is that you listen to yourself,” she said in conclusion to her keynote. “I get to do what I love every day and it doesn’t feel like work. I really feel that is the greatest success of all.”

After the keynote, students sat in on their choice of two break-out sessions with YHS alumnae. The girls heard first-hand about a Yorkie’s journey after graduation, and had a chance to ask questions to professionals from a variety of fields.
