The York House Music Department held an intimate evening of music featuring our Jazz Band, Ragazza and Bambina. Guests had a chance to mingle, enjoy a glass of wine and sample delicious hors d’oeuvres, all while listening to jazz standards, new favourites and solo performances from our talented musicians and singers.

This night was traditionally held at the now defunct Cellar Jazz Club. As of last year it has been held at YHS, where the foyer is transformed into a cabaret-style jazz club. “The Basement” gives our Senior students the chance to perform in a more intimate and casual setting.

Celebration of Community

On Tuesday afternoon, the YHS community gathered at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts for the annual “Celebration of Community”.

This annual event is the one time during the year that the entire community comes together. It’s a treat to hear our budding musicians perform in such a glorious venue, and to celebrate the spirit of the season together. View highlights from all the performances below.

The afternoon was interspersed with readings (Julia and Rainy, Gr. 12), as well as carols sung by all the attendees. The sing-a-longs always put everyone in the holiday spirit. The featured soloist was Samantha, Gr. 12. View her performance here.

Special thanks to Leith Wheeler Investments for sponsoring this event. The impressive venue, carol singing, and festive atmosphere make for a wonderful holiday tradition. See all the photos here.
