Senior Robotics at YHS

York House successfully participated in its first-ever robotics competition on Saturday, January 14 at Southridge School. Although our robotics field managed to be only half built the week before, and our Team Lead was unexpectedly trapped in Switzerland, our Yorkies made us proud throughout the day!

We then had another amazing day of robotics on Saturday, February 4. Thankfully, this time, our entire team could attend without any international pandemic-related mishaps.

Robotics Tournaments are long days from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, consisting of inspection, team judging, alliance selection, and six matches with/against 60 teams from different schools. Our Yorkies worked tirelessly throughout the day to problem-solve, collaborate with each other and other teams, and rebuild, recode, and drive their robots. Adrenaline was buzzing and spirits were high!

YHS finished our second tournament placing 17 out of 60 teams (about 250 students!), but were at 11 at one point of the day! This is truly an unbelievable result for our inaugural team! Congratulations to Keisha, Tania, Cameron, Denye, and Annabelle!
