We’re Running for Terry

Terry Fox Run 2012
Click me for a slideshow of the Terry Fox Run!

The Terry Fox Run was a “all school” event this year. The younger Yorkies (Gr. 1-3) were partnered up with a Gr. 11 or 12 buddy. Grades 4-10 wore their house shirts and ran/walked with their houses. We started off with a warm-up that included push-ups, sit-ups and burpees. Junior girls brought a “Twoonie for Terry” and the student exec. collected $5 from senior students – all for the Terry Fox Foundation.

The Warm-Up:

Uganda: They Made It!

Our girls made it safely to Uganda last week.

So far they have read with local children at Kitengeesa Community Library, observed training with the women from Solar Sisters, prepared their own literacy program to deliver to kids in Ibanda, and spent time in the child care centre at TASO, a local HIV/AIDS clinic, as well as learning sign language at The Good Samaritan School for the Deaf. They are now getting ready to head out to a safari!
