York Visit YHS

In 2008, the Junior School raised funds for four different charities by holding a Read-a-Thon.

One of the organizations that benefited was PADS, a society that raises and trains dogs for people who are facing challenges of life with a physical disability or who are deaf or hard of hearing.

With York House’s support, PADS placed “York” at the New Horizons, a senior’s care facility in Campbell River.

Watch the slideshow below featuring York’s return visit to YHS, and the thank you card from the seniors at New Horizons:

Grade 9’s Vanessa, Nikki, Carman and Annette (captain), formed the Young Superhero team “Not For Ourselves Alone” to help raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital.

Their team was the top fundraising team of the 2010 Young Superhero campaign.

Operation Superhero raises funds for the $500 million expansion project of the BC Children’s Hospital. It was established by Chinese Canadians to raise $5 million dollars over a three-year period.

The girls were recognized in the December 17th edition of the Ming Pao newspaper (pictured).

Way to go Yorkies on living our motto Not For Ourselves Alone!
