Señora Marte, Señora Kaddage and 12 Yorkies have arrived in Guatemala for Spring Break. They are working with Project Somos. Keep checking back for updates as Señora Marte will be blogging during the duration of the trip.
Language Awareness Week
We celebrated languages at YHS during Language Awareness Week (April 22 – 26). There were several activities held during the senior school lunch hour:
On Monday, there was a “Café des Langues”. Students helped make and eat crepes, nachos and listened to some songs in English, French and Spanish performed by one of our Gr.9 students. On Tuesday, there was a Karaoke Lunch. One of our Gr.10 students worked hard to put together a list of the songs to sing in French, Spanish and other languages. On Wednesday, there were treats and two short movies, one in French and one in Spanish (with subtitles). On Thursday, there were board games: Monopoly, Scrabble, cards and many more in another languages. On Friday, was the final event: a fashion show to display a French or Spanish accessory. Prizes for the best accessory!
