Over 50 girls in the Senior School are participating in the 30 Hour Famine starting at 1:30pm today, until 7:30pm on Friday. The girls will either be fasting, not talking, or not using electronics. They may drink water and juice in lieu of solid food.
The 30 Hour Famine brings attention to the fact that 925 million people are hungry worldwide. Every day, as many as 11,000 children under age 5 die due to hunger-related causes. That’s one kid every 8 seconds.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of students around the world do the Famine. They go without food for 30 hours, and learn what it takes to overcome hunger.
Our girls are collecting pledges and donations for World Vision, with monies going to water projects in developing countries.
