The York House Senior building has garnered yet another award.
On April 10, 2015, MCW Consultants, the engineering firm behind our mechanical system, was honoured with an Award of Merit by the Association of Consulting Engineers British Columbia (ACEC-BC).
MCW designed our mechanical system to “provide comfortable space conditions year-round, incorporating state-the-art technology and achieving low energy consumption without sacrificing thermal comfort.” Read more about the mechanical system here.
ACEC-BC presented the award to MCW at the 26th annual Awards for Engineering Excellence Gala, held at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Head of School Chantal Gionet, and Board Chair Suren Sanmugasunderam, joined MCW engineers Willie Perez, Greg Lord, Sam Louie and Jason White at the gala. Congratulations to the project team.
The Awards for Engineering Excellence honours the innovation and technical excellence of Association of Consulting Engineering Companies British Columbia (ACEC-BC) member firms. See the full press release from ACEC British Columbia.
The design of the York House Senior School has also been making waves in the architecture and design world since the building opened in September 2013. The school received a first-ever Vancouver Urban Design Award in 2014, and has been featured in numerous publications such as World Architecture News, Award Magazine, Canadian Architect and more.
