Our young scientists are thriving at YHS thanks to the support of several generous YHS families who have come together to support a complete summer renovation of our science labs in the Senior School. Re-imagining of our lab spaces as 360-degree learning environments has transformed them into student-centred learning spaces that reflect how modern science and design labs function.
The Senior School Science Wing was originally built in 1988. The revitalized labs include new millwork, flooring, lighting and furnishings that allow for the flexible configuration of student learning spaces. Equipment has been updated, including new smartboards and rolling dividers that double as writing surfaces. The stunning vaulted wooden ceilings have all been preserved. Work began just before the summer break and was completed in time for the 2022-23 school year.
These combined enhancements support student collaboration, inspire creativity, and support the design thinking process. We are so grateful to our generous families for their philanthropic contributions that have made this project a reality.
