Senior Tigers Update: November 21, 2019

This Incredible Fall Season Continues!

TIGERS SWIM TEAM PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS

Last weekend, our Senior Swim Team compete at the BC Championships at Watermania in Richmond. Our Tigers have worked hard all season with morning and evening training at St George’s pool as well as fitness room training. The girls are committed and after three seasons of top 4 finishes at the BCs, the Tigers had their eye on the big prize. Tigers swimmers delivered with many top finishes:

  • GOLD & Provincial Record: Alexandra – Open 50m Freestyle
  • GOLD: Alexandra – Open 100m Butterfly
  • BRONZE: Alexandra, Janice, Joyce, Victoria – Open 400m Freestyle Relay
  • BRONZE: Devon, Frances, Kaitlin, Tristan – B 200m Freestyle Relay
  • BRONZE: Alexandra, Janice, Joyce, Victoria – Open 200m Freestyle Relay
  • 4th: Vivian, Kaitlin, Devon, Frances – B 200m Medley Relay
  • 5th: Devon, Frances, Sophia, Kaitlin – B 400m Freestyle Relay
  • 6th: Devon – B 100m Freestyle
  • 6th: Madeleine, Sophia, Phoebe, Viviann – B 200m Freestyle Relay
  • 7th: Janice – Open 100m Butterfly

The Swim Team season was incredible and as good as any YHS season ever with three major wins of all three major swim meets

SENIOR VOLLEYBALL TEAM VANCOUVER SEA TO SKY ZONE CHAMPIONS
Our Senior Volleyball Team dominated our zone tournament last week, defeating West Point Grey Academy to claim YHS’s third consecutive zone championship. Prior to this season, our zone was the Lower Mainland Zone. With the BC School Sports zone realignment, all our teams are now in the Vancouver Sea to Sky Zone. York House defeated all teams from Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, Sunshine Coast and Howe Sound. Our Tigers will be competing at the ‘AA’ BC Championships from November 27-30 at Kalamalka Secondary in Vernon, BC.

GRADE 9 VOLLEYBALL TEAM AT BC INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
YHS Grade 9s defeated Notre Dame to earn the right to compete at a Grade 9 BC Championship invitational tournament hosted by Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary from November 22-23. Good Luck to our Grade 9s! 

WINTER SEASON SPORTS:

  • Basketball season is underway
  • The Senior Basketball Team is competing in next week’s Big Ticket Tournament and starts the season ranked 8th ‘AA’ in BC.
  • Ski Team and Snowboard Team is also getting started

Junior Tigers Update: November 21, 2019

VOLLEYBALL
Both of our Grade 7 teams competed hard in their respective ISEA Volleyball Tournaments on Monday, November 4. The Grade 7A team brought home the silver medal. The team rose to the challenge and lost an incredibly tight final to the Champions from Crofton House. Meanwhile, back at York House School, our Grade 7B team hosted a fantastic 10-team tournament. The girls played their best volleyball of the season and they were thrilled to finish 4th!

Congratulations to all of our students and coaches for an outstanding season of volleyball.

SWIM TEAM
The Swim Team splashed down this week with their first practices of the season. Coach Christine Lee is pumped up about the young Tigers and everyone is looking forward to our first meet of the season, the St. George’s School Elementary Swim Meet, December 6 and 7. Good luck team!

BASKETBALL
The basketball season is officially off and running, with all three teams now in their second week of practice. On November 22 and 23, our Grade 7 team will open their competitive season at the St. John’s School Slam Basketball Tournament. Both the Grade 6 and 5 teams will open their season with games during the first week of December. Go Tigers go!
