February 22 is the next Service Saturday opportunity so if you haven’t gone yet or would like to go again, please consider it!

Service Saturday is a great way to connect with fellow students outside of the classroom and volunteer within your community at the same time!

We are offering the following four opportunities:

Greater Vancouver Food Bank

  • 8:30am – 12:30pm
  • Transport to/from by YHS Van
  • Help sort and organize food bank donations at warehouse
  • Open to students over 16 years of age.
  • 20 spaces

Belkin House, Salvation Army

  • Downtown Vancouver
  • 9:30 – 2:30pm
  • Public transit
  • Help prepare and serve hot lunch to patrons of the Salvation Army
  • Open to all ages.
  • 10 spaces.

Granville Park Lodge

  • 2:30 – 4:30pm
  • Meet at site.
  • Assist seniors with games and serve tea.
  • All ages.
  • 5 spaces.

Wish Drop-In Centre

  • Downtown Vancouver
  • 9:30 – 12:30pm
  • help sort donated clothes and toiletries
  • Open to all ages.
  • 8 spaces.

5th Annual All Girls Chess Tournament Results

All went very well on Sunday at the 5th YHS All Girls Chess Tournament.

Group A – Grades 6+7

Thank you to Janet and Paula for all of their help. Also a big thank you to the three Student Ambassadors who were wonderful too – Kendra, Jasmine and Alice.

Gaby Eirew and her family were wonderful, providing the refreshments and all of the proceeds going to Cancer Research – $175. Panago supported this event by donating the pizzas!
