In early June of this year, Madeleine C., Eleni J., and Rebecca J. (Class of 2013) travelled to St. Catharine’s, Ontario to compete in the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association Regatta.

Normally racing with their club, Thunderbird Rowing, the girls competed under York House at this high school-only regatta. With well over one thousand rowers coming from across Canada and the United States, the girls raced very well amongst tough competition; Rebecca and Eleni advanced out of heats in their openweight double, while in the lightweight double (rowers weighing under 130lbs.), Madeleine and Rebecca just missed qualification by a devastating tenth of a second.

The girls found the regatta to be a valuable experience and were happy to race as York House School!

After defeating Mulgrave in the semis and advancing to the finals, the girls lost a heartbreaker 13-15 in the 3rd set to a good defensive Southridge team. We were up 13-11 and had the gold within our grasp, but made some key mental mistakes that ended up costing the game. This weekend was the best ball the girls have played all season and they showed a great deal of maturity in some tough game situations!

Sr. Volleyball: 4th at Westerns

We lost to Crofton in the semis, and to SMU in the bronze medal game on Saturday. We are young team that showed some tremendous potential and play, which we can build on over the next few weeks and years. Thanks for the support over the past few days. We have a week of practice this week and then off to the Island on Friday morning for the ISAs. Click here for some great photos of the team in action.
