CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING
The Cross-Country team is off and running, with a full slate of practices, meets, and energy. As of right now, our team is scheduled to compete in four races this Fall, with our first competition happening in less than two weeks. On Sunday, September 26, our Cross Country Running team will be participating in the Vancouver Spirit Run at Jericho Beach. Our team of coaches and athletes had their first practice this past Monday, and they are looking forward to learning a little bit more about their competitive selves. Following the Spirit Run, our team will turn around and race again in the WPGA Cross-Country Festival, again at Jericho Beach. The team is loaded with great coaches and almost 80 athletes, and we are looking forward to a fantastic season.

Coaches Alison Waterhouse, Keira Pearkes, Kim Ryerson, Jen Sharpe, Kellie Young, Alexandra Simsilevich, Lela Ling are leading the first practice of the season.

VOLLEYBALL
We are very excited to be playing volleyball again this fall, and we are equally excited to be playing games this time around. As in past years, we have four teams competing in Grade 5, Grade 6, Grade 7A, and Grade 7B. Combined, these four teams have 70 students participating! Games will begin on October 1 and continue through until the end of the month. Keep your eye on this space for results and updates.

Junior Tigers Update: September 17, 2020

VOLLEYBALL
There is a lot of bumping, setting, spiking, serving, and digging going on in Rand Gymnasium these days as Covid-19 friendly Volleyball is on! With teams in Grade 5, 6, and 7, we have over 75 girls playing. There are no games scheduled this season, yet our coaches and athletes are still working to improve. A big thank you to our coaches: Mrs. Zimmer and Ms. Banfield for Grade 5; Mr. Alguire and Mrs. Kanavos for Grade 6; Ms. Murray, Ms. Brennan, and Ms. Marcotte for Grade 7.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Our team of coaches (Ms. Abbott, Ms. Anthony, Ms. Dorcey, Ms. Krahn, Ms. Ling, Ms. McAllister, Ms. Sharpe, Ms. Waterhouse, and Ms. Young) are very excited to get started. They have worked diligently to build a schedule that considers the many logistical challenges of 2020. Our team is once again large in numbers (~70), and big on enthusiasm. All we need now is some clean air! Parents, please keep an eye on your Cross-Country team emails as we are at the mercy of the weather and air quality. We will make the most of this season, and we are looking forward to our first practice!

ATHLETICS EXPLAINED
During the Junior School Curriculum Explained Evening, there is a session designed to answer all of your questions about our Junior School Athletics program. The session will take place using Google Meet Monday, September 21 at 7:00 pm. Find the link on the Curriculum Explained Evening schedule sent out by the school.

TIGERS GEAR ONLINE STORE: NOW OPEN
With the many challenges of opening our school during this pandemic, students are allowed to wear Tigers gear on their PHE / practice days. As a result, we have been swamped with requests from parents and students for sweatshirts, hoodies, sweatpants and other gear. We do not have any stock on site beyond crewnecks and a few other items. The store is now open and will close on Sunday, October 4. Log in to myYHS for store links or check your email.
