Déjeuner Français de Fin D’Année

La classe de Français 11/12 de Monsieur Carr fête la fin d’année scolaire avec un festin de spécialités françaises – préparées par les élèves elles-mêmes !

IMG_3384The girls in the French 11/12 class celebrated the end of their French studies by cooking up a feast of French specialties such as quiche, vichyssoise, ratatouille, pissaladière, soupe à l’oignon, bœuf bourguignon, clafoutis aux poires, and mousse au chocolat, all accompanied by a fresh fruit cocktail and a variety of French cheeses.

In the spirit of a Julia Childs cooking programme (however, with a much more contemporary flair) the girls filmed themselves having fun in the kitchen and showing off their culinary expertise, which we watched during our lunch together.

It was a delicious way to end off the year ! Thanks to all of the girls in French 11/12 for a succulent meal and a wonderful year!

Best of luck on exams!
Monsieur Carr

Math Challengers Compete at UBC

MathChallengers UBC 2Kudos to the Math Challenger participants (Angel, Emily, Melissa, Jalisa and Rainy) for spending their Saturday at UBC yesterday competing in the Math Challengers provincial.

The girls didn’t bring home the championship trophy, but were happy to have made it this far. Great job, girls!

Physics Olympics

A group of Grade 11 and 12 students also gave up their Saturday to head up to UBC to complete in the Physics Olympics.

The team had been working on the ‘pre-build’ part of the competition for a couple weeks. They had to make a wind turbine and a device that lowered a ball a vertical distance of 1m as slow as possible. Here is a video and a photo of their solution:
