Grade 4s at Camp Fircom with Sea to Sky Outdoor School (May 4-6):
At the start of May, the Grade 4s embarked on their first overnight camping trip ever at YHS! The students traveled to Camp Fircom, on Gambier Island, where they participated in a magical three days with the Sea to Sky Outdoor School staff. Spending the entire three days outdoors, students learned all about the natural environment and the ways that they can help to protect and respect the land. Although it was a wet couple of days, the students were troopers and had a fantastic time learning new skills and trying new challenges, such as fire building, knife carving, polar dips, and slug kissing.

Grade 5s at Camp Fircom with Sea to Sky Outdoor School (June 1-3):
Later in June, the Grade 5s also got the opportunity to travel to Camp Fircom on Gambier Island, for their own exciting three days in the outdoors! Under the guidance of Sea to Sky Outdoor School staff, the Grade 5s explored the island and learned all about the beautiful wonders of the land and the environment. During their time at camp, the students embarked on a full-day paddling excursion in large voyageur canoes, exploring the wonders of the ocean as well as the land. This was the first overnight camp for many of these students and many wonderful memories were created over the course of the three days.

Grade 6 Camp at Camp Summit (April 28-29):
After a long-anticipated wait, overnight trips returned to YHS this spring and Grade 6 was the first group to kick things off! Travelling to Squamish, the Grade 6 students spent two days at Camp Summit immersing themselves in camp life and all the wonderful things it has to offer. Students participated in mountain biking, archery, geocaching, carving, and several camp-wide adventure games. There was lots of laughter, singing and fun campfire stories that were shared over the course of the two days.

Grade 7 Spring Camp at Evans Lake Camp (June 6-8):
Grade 7s finished off their year with an exciting three-day trip to Evans Lake Camp, along the Howe Sound. While at camp, students participated in rock climbing, archery, low ropes courses, canoeing, swimming, paddle boarding, campfires, and several game-wide survival games. The week was filled with many laughs and wonderful memories, a beautiful way for students to conclude their time in the Junior School.
