On February 16th, Grades 3-7 participated in the House Event Fun-a-rama. Fun-a-rama is a competition with relays, problem-solving, obstacle courses, and other surprise events. Every girl participated in several events. The Grade 7 House Leaders helped plan, organize, and run this event. The spirit and sportsmanship in the gym provided for an excellent competition! After the final event had taken place Green captured first place.
Food Bank Frenzy
On a bright and sunny Wednesday afternoon, our young Yorkies took to the field for the Food Bank Frenzy (FBF), our first House Event of the year. The FBF is one BIG relay that provides a fun and active way for our school to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The goal of the FBF is to raise awareness of the Food Bank’s needs and to show off our school spirit, and of course, to have a friendly House Event competition.
Each House Team must race 200 non-perishable food items around the course. It is amazing to watch 800 items of food zip around the field. When we add the surplus items and generosity of our Grade 1 and 2 students, our community collected over 1000 items of food for the GVFB!
A big thank you to our House Leaders who prepared their teams. Also, a big thank you to each family for your donation. Way to go York House!
Finally – Congratulation to the Blue Team for their FBF victory. They collected 50 points towards the house shield and will have their name engraved on the trophy.
