On February 8th Grades 3-7 participated in their 4th House event of the year, Fun-a-rama. Fun-a-rama is a competition with relays, problem-solving, obstacle courses, and other surprise events. Every girl participated in six events. The Grade 7 House Leaders helped Ms. Dalziel plan, organize, and run this event. The spirit and sportsmanship in the gym provided for an excellent competition. After the final race had taken place Algonquin (blue) captured first place. With this win every House has now won one event this year. The competition for the prestigious House shield is very close going into the final two events. What house will bring home the top prize this year?
Terry Fox Run & Sports-a-Rama
The Junior School and Senior School participated in the Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 16. Students and staff showed their spirit by dressing in house colours, and they brought a donation to support the Terry Fox Foundation. Students in Grades 10 and 12 were paired with a “buddy” from Grades 1-3 (the Grade 11s were on their Outdoor Ed trip to Garibaldi). Our Community Service Captains, Marysa and Emily, did a fabulous job of organizing the run this year. Big thanks also go to Ms. Kaddage for all her work supporting our student leaders.
After the run, our Senior girls took to the field for Sports-a-Rama, our first house event of the year. Students and staff took part in the annual tug-of-war and balloon toss events. Thank you to our House Captains, Erin, Sophia, Blair and Rainy, and to Ms. McDonald, Ms. Baldissera, and Ms. Boteju, for building school spirit in the first few weeks of the year!
Kudos also to Ms. Waterhouse and our Class Presidents for organizing the BBQ that followed Sports-a-Rama. It was really great to see everyone out supporting this great day of events!
