Mirrorless Thursday

To mark International Women’s Day, Gr. 11 student Breanne B. decided to also make Thursday, March 8th “Mirrorless Thursdsay.” Her campaign involved covering every single washroom mirror in the senior school with paper. She did this to encourage students to “take a break from the mirror and be good to yourself and your body, regardless of appearance.”

Kudos to Sally: Service Saturday

Sally G.
Kudos to Sally for committing to Service Saturday

Our 3rd Service Saturday was on Febuary 25. Students had the opportunity to work at the Food Bank, the Salvation Army and Pacific Spirit Park.

Eight students initially signed up for the Food Bank but in the end, only one student was able to commit (many were busy with Wizard of Oz rehearsals). The one student who was able to attend was Grade 12 student Sally G.

Sally showed up at YHS at 8:30am on Saturday morning, went to the Food Bank for a 9am start and joined nine Senior boys from Saints for a morning of sorting donated items … enough to feed 500 families!

I was impressed by Sally’s commitment, hard work and ability to not be distracted by the boys (many dressed to impress!). So, a special thank you to Sally for her dedication to service for all the right reasons. For more information on volunteering and our next Service Saturday (April 28), please see Ms. Stanger.
