A couple of photos submitted by parents, from YHS’s annual “Take Your Daughters to Work Day” on November 3. It’s the 9th year our Grade 9’s have participated, due to great feedback from parents and students alike.

Here is Nicole visiting her father’s workplace, Genivar, a consulting engineering firm. Classmates Annette and Carmen visited Lim & Company, where they met with defence lawyer Dr. William Lim, who is a father of an YHS alumnae. The girls made a trip to criminal court to observe a criminal trial in progress.

We Will Always Remember

On Wednesday both the junior school and the senior school held Remembrance Day assemblies featuring poetry, reflections, art work and music. Both were fitting tributes, in the words of Ariana, Grade 5, “to remember how hard all the soldiers who fought to bring us peace in the world and how they sacrificed their lives to bring us freedom like we have today.”

At the junior school assembly, a slideshow featuring poetry and art work by the Grade 3’s played during the poppy presentation.

At the senior school assembly, Master Corporal David Scrivens of the Canadian Armed Forces spoke about his experiences in Afghanistan and Bosnia. He also attended the junior school assembly. Some of the girls had questions about the dented helmet he brought along with him.
