Our Grade 9 Young Superheroes team “Not For Ourselves Alone” have just been awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from the Government of Canada.
The certificate recognizes outstanding community service and volunteerism. The Right Honourable Dr. Alice Wong, MP, Parlimentary Secretary for the House of Commons, presented it to the girls at the For Children We Care dinner on February 5, 2011, in front of 1200 distinguished guests.
Annette, Carman, Nikki and Vanessa formed the Young Superheroes team to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Annette also won the top fundraiser among all the Young Superheroes and was awarded a Vancouver Canucks Alex Burrows signed jersey as a prize. Annette plans to donate this prize to the school for a silent or live auction in the next year to help with school fundraising.
