At the “Service Learning Night of Celebration”, the Grade 7s spoke about their experiences volunteering at the YWCA throughout the year. They also showed the videos they made to document their volunteering.
YHS donated $2500 to fund the YWCA’s “Books, Bags and Babies” literacy program. The funds were raised during our “Get Caught Reading” campaign in early May. The picture below is of the Grade 7s presenting a cheque to Pamela Nesbitt, a representative of the YWCA who spoke at the event. Also in the picture is Ms. Shelley Crawford, who we consulted when the service learning program was created. The Grade 7s are (L to R) Eliza, Kate, Lauren and Mira:
