Senior Tigers Update: September 19, 2019

VARSITY FIELD HOCKEY IMPRESS AT POLAR BEAR TOURNAMENT
The Varsity Field Hockey Team started the season off by facing the best teams in BC at the Polar Bear Tournament. Despite missing some key Grade 10s (away for outdoor ed.) on Friday, the Tigers defeated rival Little Flower Academy (LFA) 4-3 and played to a 1-1 draw vs Crofton House. Saturday, with some tired and weary Grade 10s, the Tigers defeated Kelowna Secondary School (KSS) before losing to the reigning AA and AAA BC Champions, Collingwood and Handsworth. A record of 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw was an impressive result for our young Tigers team. This week we travel to Shawnigan Lake for an exhibition series against Brentwood College, Shawnigan Lake, and St. Michaels University School (SMUS).

ATHLETICS COFFEE MORNING: Wednesday, October 16, 8:30 am at YHS Cafe
Back by popular demand, there will be an Athletics Coffee Morning with Mr. Prissinotti (Senior Athletics Director) and Mr. Jackson (Junior School Athletics Coordinator). This is a casual opportunity to hear some information about athletics at YHS and ask questions. There will not be a formal presentation planned. Instead, this is an opportunity for questions and discussion on a variety of topics that are of interest to parents.

DEFINING COMMITMENT
Our YHS students are busy with a wide range of activities. Athletics requires a level of commitment in order for the experience to be valuable and meaningful. At YHS, our Athletics Department has tried to provide a detailed definition of commitment. Success, in any form, is earned through commitment and hard work.
