A huge congrats to Head Coach, Scott Abt, and his coaching staff who built a team this year that was able to qualify a YHS record 20 swimmers to the BC’s and take home a second straight BCSS Provincial Championship.
Congrats to all the girls. This was such a solid all around team effort to accumulate maximum points.
The team pulled together to put up the numbers though it was close all day long. The Tigers spent much of the day in 2nd and 3rd place behind either Oak Bay or Delta Secondary. But in the end, the Tigers won with 290pts!
This is our schools 13th BCSS provincial championship, 2nd straight BCSS Aquatics title, and 4th BCSS Championship in the last 12 months.
York House and STG are the only 2 other schools in BC (public or independent) that have won 4 BC titles in the past 12 months.
Our coaching staff includes 2 YHS alumnae: Abbie Au ’07 and Whitney Lim ’05.
Whitney becomes the 3rd YHS grad to win a BCSS Championship as a player and coach, as she won BCSS ‘AA’ basketball titles back in 2004 and 2005.
Well done! A great finish to our fall season which also saw new record accomplishments.
