Junior Tigers Update: May 25, 2018

As June is nearly upon us, the Spring season of athletics is rapidly coming to an end. Of course, that can only mean one thing…SPORTS DAY is coming! Stay tuned

JUNIOR SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD
Our Junior School Track & Field team is in the middle of two major competitions. On Tuesday, May 22nd, YHS hosted the ISEA Track & Field Championships at South Surrey Athletic Park. Girls teams from 13 different schools and boys teams from 12 different schools all ran, jumped, and threw in hopes of earning the title of champion. This year the girls team champion was Crofton House, and the boys champion was once again St. George’s. The York House Tigers were fantastic competitors who demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork. In the end, the Tigers had an excellent competition and finished 2nd overall. The girls were understandably quite proud.

This week the turnaround is very short as our team is immediately back on the track for the BCEC Meet. Starting Friday night and ending Sunday afternoon, this is the 50th annual meet hosted by the Kajaks Track & Field Club in Richmond. The BCEC is the largest elementary school meet in BC, and it always brings the best competition. Good luck to all Tigers – coaches and athletes alike!

ULTIMATE
The Ultimate teams have continued to play league games and exhibition matches in preparation for the annual Gr. 7 SabreFest Tournament on June 1st. We are also excited to announce that the year YHS will be hosting the first ever Gr. 5-6 TigerFest Tournament on June 1st.

Good luck to all of our Ultimate teams!
