FIELD HOCKEY AT ‘AA’ BC CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Our Tigers Varsity Field Hockey Team is currently competing at the ‘AA’ BC CHampionships. Wednesday, our Tigers defeated Brentwood College 5-0 and North Delta Secondary School 5-0. Thursday the girls will play Collingwood and then start the playoff round. The tournament wraps up Friday, November 9. Follow YHS Athletics on twitter for latest results (@YHSTigers).
CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM AT BC CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Congratulations to our Cross-Country runners who braved the wet and cold conditions Saturday, November 2, to compete in the BC Championships in Nanaimo, BC. Our team represented YHS incredibly well on and off the race course and were a pleasure to chaperone. In the Senior Girls Race, Grade 12s Emily MacGowan, and Allison Shan were accompanied by Grade 11 Olivia Uliana ran in the Senior Girls race. Sophie Forsythe, Layla Sajan and Tori Aksmanovic ran in the Junior Girls race. Each race had approximately 250 competitors. All girls ran well and finished this tough course with a strong result

- Special congrats to our two graduating seniors, Emily and Allison. Thank you for your leadership and contributions to our program.

VOLLEYBALL PLAYOFF NEWS:
Our Grade 8 Volleyball Team had an incredible season doing very well in our competitive LMISSGVA league while winning the Gladstone Tournament and gold at ISAs. On Tuesday, the Tigers defeated LFA 2-0 in quarter final action but lost their semi final to Crofton (CHS). York House and CHS had a great rivalry all season long with YHS gaining the upper hand winning league games and the ISA final. However, CHS got the edge in the semi-final. Best of luck to the Falcons in the final and congratulations to our Tigers on a great season.
The Junior Tigers placed first overall in their league and on Wednesday, hosted playoff games at YHS. In the semi-final, York House defeated Crofton House 2-0 to advance to the LMISSGVA Championship final vs Notre Dame.
The Senior Tigers defeated Notre Dame on Monday in quarter final action 3-0 and on Wednesday, took on St. Thomas More Collegiate (STMC) in our league semi-final. YHS defeated STMC 3-0 to advance to the LMISSGVA Championship final vs CHS.
Seniors’ Night: Monday night was our graduating senior volleyball players final home game of the season. We honour these girls and thank them for their long commitment to YHS volleyball and all their contributions on and off the court. Hanna, Sydney, Rosie, and Katie have helped elevate Tigers volleyball to where it is today, among BC’s best teams. Thank you and we will miss you! We also want to thank their parents who have been a tremendous support over the years.
