Junior Tigers Update: October 3, 2019

VOLLEYBALL
Early last week, the Grade 7A team travelled to Crofton House (CHS) and played their first league game of the season. The result was not in their favour but a great deal was learned. In fact, motivated by that result, the team had an intense week of practice. The team then tested itself at the Dig It Tournament, hosted by St. John’s School. The girls are finding their inner Tiger and worked themselves into the final, where they once again faced CHS. Unfortunately, the result was the same, but this time the Tigers put the Falcons on notice…we are not going to be pushed over. This week the team travelled to Mulgrave and came home with their first league win of the season.

The Grade 7B team also traveled to CHS early last week and came away with a similar result. The girls have worked very hard at practice this past week and a half, and they are looking forward to their next league match on Thursday, October 3, at Southpointe Academy.

The Grade 6 team travelled to West Vancouver last Monday to play against Collingwood School. It was a fun trip highlighted by Collingwood’s incredible school spirit. The fans were loud and proud and it created quite a unique environment. The Grade 6 team plays again on Monday, October 8, at Stratford Hall.

The Grade 5 team had a very busy week playing twice (at Stratford Hall and St. John’s School) and practicing twice. The coaches have reported that the young Tigers have really taken to Atomic Tripleball (modified volleyball), showing tremendous promise and having a lot of fun along the way.

CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
The Tigers Cross-Country team participated in the Festival of Cross Country hosted by Ocean Athletics on September 28. Head Coach Lela Ling reported that the team did very well, and highlighted some spectacular sportsmanship displayed by our Grade 7 Head Girl, Kate. This Thursday, October 3, the team is competing in the WPGA Cross Country Festival. This is another race opportunity as the team continues building towards the ISEA Championship. Good luck Tigers!
