Junior Tigers Update: September 23, 2022

CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
Good luck to all of the Tigers who are participating in the Vancouver Spirit Run this upcoming Sunday, September 25. This event takes place at beautiful Jericho Beach, and will showcase the talents of runners from the ages of 8 all the way up to the Masters age groups. If the weather forecast holds true, it is going to be a fantastic day!!!

VOLLEYBALL
On Friday, September 23, our Grade 7B team will compete in the St. John’s School Dig-It Tournament. This all-day event will be filled with a lot of fun, learning, bumping and serving. The team will be accompanied by coaches Sarah Szak and Monique Marcotte.

During this past week, our other three volleyball teams all took to the court for an early season test. The Grade 5s traveled to Stratford Hall and came away with a ton of experience playing Atomic Tripleball. Early season games are both a challenge and a blessing. On one hand, the team has very little experience to pull from, and on the other hand, they now have a much greater understanding of what a game looks and feels like.

The Grade 6 team traveled to Mulgrave and put on an excellent exhibition of volleyball, especially considering their lack of practices to this point. They easily defeated the Titans and are eager to play in their next game on October 6.

Finally, our Grade 7A team played in their first league game of the season, traveling to Mulgrave School. Understandably, the players (and coaches) were nervous. Nonetheless, the Tigers defeated the Titans in two straight games (25-19, 27-25) to claim the match. Well done!
