Junior Tigers Update: May 30, 2019

ULTIMATE
The Grade 5 Ultimate team is playing in the 2nd annual TigerFest here at York House, on May 31. The playday begins at 8:30 am and wraps up around 2:00 pm. This is the final event of the season for our team. Go Tigers!

The Grade 6/7 Ultimate team is playing in the very fun, and highly competitive, SabreFest on May 31 at Montgomery Park in Vancouver. This season-ending tournament takes place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, and the games promises to be fast and full of action. It is always impressive to see just how well Grade 6/7 students can play the game of Ultimate. Go, Tigers, Go!

A massive thank you to our coaches! The Tigers are lead by the amazing Ms. Winston and Ms. Garcia. For the past nine weeks, these two coaches have been there for our girls, rain or shine. Our program is thriving, and the students are having a lot of fun. Ms. Winston has been a driving force for Junior School Ultimate for the past five years, and we are going to miss her as she heads off on new adventures. Thank you Ms. Winston, we are grateful to have had you lead the way!

GRADES 3- 7 TRACK & FIELD
Last weekend, May 24-26, the York House Tigers attended the 51st annual BCEC Track & Field Meet. This event, hosted by the Kajaks Track & Field Club in Richmond, is a mainstay of the elementary Track & Field season. With the competition spread over three days, every elementary event is contested. From the 60m hurdles to the discus, and all events in between, our Tigers did the school proud by finishing with dozens of personal bests. Those personal bests start to add up too! We finished in 2nd place in the girls team category. Congratulations to all of the girls for an outstanding season.

We should also thank our dedicated and amazing coaches. From the Little School we had Ms. Adams, Ms. Kingerlee, Ms. Ryerson, and from the Junior School we had Miss Murray, Ms. Marcotte, Mr. Camp, Ms. Ling, Ms. Kanavos, Ms. Sharpe, and Ms. Abbott. In addition, we had several dedicated student coaches who did a fantastic job of continuing a long standing tradition of giving back to the Junior School Athletics program. Thank you Maya Fong, Lauren Lecky, Kaitlin Yung, Madeleine Yee, and Isabel McDonald!
