Congratulations to our Senior Volleyball team!
For the first time since 2001, the Tigers took home the Spartan Cup from the 2013 Western Canadian Ind. School Volleyball Championships held in Calgary at Rundle College (Saturday, October 19).
The Tigers went 6-0 in the round robin portion of the event placing 1st overall. In the playoffs they beat a tough home Rundle College team 2-1 (16-14 in the 3rd) set and then took care of CHS in the championship final 2-0. The Tigers were the class of the tournament.
The tournament MVP was Laura, Siobhan was named hitter of the tournament, and Emma was top defender. I couldn’t have asked for a more impressive and mature performance from the girls. They played as a team through and through and were nominated for the spirit trophy as well.
The Senior Volleyball team also decisively won their 2nd straight ISA Trophy on Saturday, October 26, defeating (for the 6th time this season) Crofton 2-0 in the finals.
The girls went through undefeated, not dropping a single game, to win the tournament. That makes two trophies in two weekends, and two undefeated tournaments straight. In fact, the girls have dropped only one match in their last three tournaments, losing to Timberline (easily the #1 AAA team in the province) in a tightly contested semi-final match at VIU.
Kaleigh was tournament/team MVP and all 14 girls played substantial minutes over the past two days. Thanks again for your support, especially to the staff and friends that came to cheer the girls on. It is much appreciated.
