Sr. Athletics Term 3 Wrap-Up

Ultimate Update

Our Ultimate teams continued to perform well with Sr. A Team winning the Lower Mainland Independent League title while our Jr. A team placed second. All five ultimate teams competed at the BC Championships at Newton Athletic Park the weekend of May 28-29.

Sr. Ultimate also placed first at the St. George’s Invitational Tournament on April 9, and competed at the Spring Reign Tournament in Washington State.

Senior Soccer Team competed at ISAs at Glenlyon Norfolk in Victoria and wrapped up their season in May.

JrSoccerISA-06May2016Junior Soccer took home the ISA Championship with a win over Crofton House (CHS). The team traveled to Brentwood College for the event and beat Crofton House in penalty kicks for the title. They team finished their season in mid May. Congrats to all the girls and to their coaches, Mr. Lum and Ms. Côté-Chartrand. 

Badminton Team:

Badminton Team placed 4th at ISAs hosted at Crofton House School on April 19 and played matches against other independent schools during April and early May.

Tennis Club:

A group of students played drop in tennis on Wednesdays after school during April and May. Meanwhile, seven Junior players (Gr. 8-10) competed at the Junior Tennis ISAs at UBC. These girls placed second, losing a close final match to Crofton House.

Track Zone Championships: May 10-11

Gabriela, Gr. 12, won the gold in Women’s High Jump with a jump of 1.62 and qualified for the BC Championships. Kate, Gr. 9, qualified for the BC’s in the 800m while the YHS Jr. 4x100m relay team; Samantha, Lauren, Kathryn (Grade 9s), Clara, Gr. 10 and Sophia, Gr. 11; also qualified for the BC’s through the open zone process. These girls competed at the BC’s from June 2-4 in Nanaimo.
